What can we say? Kanye West knows a thing or two about losing a head.
Leaked last Christmas just after the epic "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" was released, Kanye has officially unveiled the "Monster" music video, featuring a full cast of Rick Ross, Jay-Z, two Nicki Minajes and a whole mess of dead women. The video can be found on Rolling Stone's website here.
It's a big deal. Seriously. In fact, West has printed the final product with a prelude that reads:

It is an art piece and it shall be taken as such.Unfortunately, I'm skeptical on that part. But the lighting and makeup work is fantastic, albeit rather late. ANYWAY, I will let the viewers be the judges.

Skeptical on the 'art' part? I thought Kanye was an artist. Isn't he just doing his job as a creator? It is nice to see someone in the mainstream pushing the limits of the all mighty pop-culture police force. This video isn't any more extreme for the times than the "Thriller" video MJ released nearly thirty years ago--not to automatically assume Kanye's "Monster" even belongs in the same category, but its apples and apples. Nor is this 6 minute video any worse than the sex and violence-obsessed feature length films that show up in theaters nationwide every week. Artists push limits, they provoke and wait for the reaction. It's what artists do. So yes, everyone please judge Kanye's video as vile and disturbing as the news tells you to think. Of course, that will be after the video view count goes up by one.
